We are thrilled to announce Jo Wise was awarded Drama Queensland Life Membership for Longstanding Contribution to the Drama Community last night. Jo has been an inspiration to so many Drama educators in Queensland, and across the country. Jo first joined Drama Queensland as a graduate teacher in 1992, and has been a member ever since. She has demonstrated significant, long term service and commitment to Drama and Arts Education at a state level and national level. She has worked in curriculum development, in theatre companies and at government levels, always advocating for the power of Drama and Drama education.
As Drama Queensland President she professionalized Drama Queensland and transformed the association, from the website and logo, to mentoring programs and professional learning offerings. Her mark on our association is profound. Jo’s colleagues and peers describe her as an extraordinary leader with big -hearted enthusiasm, who has always worked tirelessly advocating for drama and theatre education.
Jo has dedicated herself to Drama and Arts Education, and supporting and mentoring teachers and leaders in our field. She’s a formidable and strategic advocate, an extraordinary thinker, an audacious, thoughtful and brave leader, and a wonderful, wonderful friend and colleague.
